Values and Purpose
Striving to give everyone the opportunity to live in a safe and nurturing family.
We treat everyone with dignity. We have genuine compassion and respect for our colleagues and the individuals, families and communities we serve. We understand the role of systemic disadvantage and other societal issues that impact on individuals, through no fault of their own.
We act ethically and do what is right. We are open to challenge and review.
We know how important it is to work together, with the individuals and families who need our support, with our stakeholders, and in our community.
We genuinely care about people and actively look for ways to offer a helping hand to those in need.
We encourage and explore different ways of working, open always to fresh ideas to improve our practice and outcomes for those we serve.
All our work is grounded in evidence, and our vision and values.
Our plans and policies guide that work, to make sure we provide services and a workplace that deliver on our vision of wellbeing, respect and safety for all children and families.
Cafs is committed to promoting and protecting the safety of children, to keep them free from abuse, maltreatment, fear and distress.
We place real value on how our clients think about us and our work. We encourage our clients to become involved in decision making that affects them and want them to be empowered by doing so.
We are committed to ensuring that actions and decisions taken at all levels at Cafs are informed, objective and fair. A conflict of interest may affect the way a person acts, makes decisions or votes on group decisions. We require staff, volunteers and board members to understand their obligation to disclose and manage a conflict of interest.
Cafs is committed to providing a culturally safe, mentally healthy and inclusive workplace and services for everyone, where diversity is not only welcomed, but celebrated. For us, inclusion means creating environments in which any individual or group feels welcomed, respected and valued to fully participate and contribute.
We are White Ribbon and Rainbow Tick accredited. We recognise that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are the First Peoples of Australia, and we are committed to reconciliation.
At Cafs, we see complaints and feedback as a critical tool for improvement and accountability. We are committed to being open and responsive to any concerns or ideas shared with us by the people we support, their representatives or other members of the community and stakeholders.
We take very seriously the need and responsibility to safeguard the privacy of our clients in the way we collect, store and use information about them, their needs and the services we provide to them.
Cafs maintains a robust quality management system and strives to continually improve our systems and processes.
Our 2025-2028 Strategic Plan outlines our strategic priorities and how we will support them. Our pillars are child safety, interrupt intergenerational violence, trauma responsive, inclusion and diversity.
Our vision for reconciliation is to walk with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We acknowledge the wrongs of the past and are committed to working for change so First Peoples’ cultures are valued, their rights respected and their lives shaped by equity, justice, opportunity and dignity.
Cafs is currently in the process of working in partnership with Aboriginal communities to finalise our Innovate RAP after completing our Reflect RAP.
This plan commits us to strategies and work over the next two years to eliminate discrimination and improve access, equity, inclusion and participation for people living with disability who are users of our services, employees, volunteers and community members.
The plan aims to increase our understanding and respect of CALD communities and to grow the number of people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds amongst our staff.
The Plan sets out clear and measurable targets on how we will work towards achieving and sustaining an equitable and LGBTIQA+ inclusive culture.
The plan commits us to taking action to address gender inequity and the drivers of gender based violence, including in our own workplace. We want to embed gender equity in our organisational culture and the way we do business.
Let’s build a better future, together.
Whether you’re reaching out for support, seeking more information or looking to give back, partner, join or volunteer, we’d love to hear from you.
