Former Ballarat Orphanage Heritage Interpretation Opening

20 Apr 26

Former residents, their families and friends are invited to join the City of Ballarat for the formal opening of new heritage interpretation works at 200 Victoria Street, Ballarat East, a site that played an important role in the lives of many children and families over generations.

Over its 117-year history, the site was home to the Ballarat District Orphan Asylum, Ballarat Orphanage and Ballarat Children’s Home. The new heritage interpretation honours the experiences and stories of the more than 4,000 children who passed through the institution between 1866 and 1983, ensuring those histories are acknowledged and remembered.
