New clothes can mean the world to a person in need – it can help them get a new job, keep their children warm, or refill their wardrobe after fleeing family violence with nothing. Cafs’ Thread Together clothing program gives people in need that security by providing brand-new clothing donated by Australian retailers.

As the end of the year approaches, Cafs is reaching out to the community to ask for support for its Thread Together clothing program. Whether you donate $5 or $500, every little bit helps us keep helping our vulnerable clients obtain new clothing. The added bonus is you’ll be able to claim on your donation* straight away.

If you would like to help a person in need with new clothing, please *donate to our Thread Together clothing program this year. You’ll receive a tax invoice via email immediately.

*for donations of $2 or more.

THREAD TOGETHER BALLARAT

Cafs has launched a fantastic new partnership with Thread Together to provide people in need across the Ballarat region with brand-new clothing and accessories. Thread Together is a not-for-profit organisation driving social and environmental change by redistributing excess clothing stock through purpose-designed clothing hubs. Without Thread Together, many of these items would end up in landfill.

Thread Together hubs are designed to enable customers to build trust and rapport within a dignified, safe and positive environment. Cafs is very proud to be partnering with Thread Together to be the first to launch this community service program in regional Victoria.

HOW CAN I GET A REFERRAL?

Through the Cafs’ Thread Together program, those in need are given a referral to be able to shop (for free) for a new outfit.

NOW RECRUITING VOLUNTEERS

We are currently seeking volunteers to join Cafs and be part of our fantastic new partnership with Thread Together.

Based out of 11 Grenville Street South in Central Ballarat, our volunteers will be providing personalised customer service to our customers and assisting them to select their brand-new outfits. As a volunteer you will learn new skills and work alongside other like-minded volunteers.

If you are passionate about making a difference to people in need in the local community and are interested in becoming a Thread Together volunteer, contact Nicole Roberts, Program and Volunteer Lead, on 1800 692 237 or via email threadtogether@cafs.org.au

HOW DOES CAFS THREAD TOGETHER DELIVER ITS SERVICE?

Did you know that Cafs Thread Together offers multiple ways to get clothes to those who need them the most. Here are 3 ways Cafs Thread Together delivers clothing.

1. The Thread Together clothing hub – Located at 11 Grenville Street South in Ballarat, the Clothing Hub welcomes singles, couples, families and groups of people in need of clothing. We operate by appointment only and welcome clients in-store for a retail shopping experience where you can select up to 8 brand-new items of your choice to take home.

2. Pick and Pack  – For many different reasons, clients are often unable to come into the clothing hub to select their own clothing. In these situations referring agencies can send us an email requesting a pack to be made up for collection. Our Thread Together team will carefully select 5-6 items based on the information received. The more information we have on age, style, and clothing preference the better we can tailor the pack to the client.

3. Mobile Wardrobe (Thread Together Van) – Cafs Ballarat is now the proud custodian of the Victorian Thread Together Mobile wardrobe. This means we can head out on the road and visit different communities as well as individual organisations that have groups of people in need of our service. When we are on the road we offer 3-4 items of clothing to our valued customers.
