Cafs launches NEW Gambler's Help Group Program

Cafs (Child and Family Services, Ballarat) is taking steps to further support people impacted by Gambling Harm with the introduction of a new free Gambler’s Help Group program.

The group, which operates on the second Friday of each month, offers participants an opportunity to connect with professional Gamblers Help counsellors and other community members who are adversely impacted by gambling (whether that be their own or someone else’s gambling).

“Cafs has offered specialist Gamblers Help counselling for several years, but we recognise that there are probably people in our community who may find a one on one counselling appointment a little overwhelming”, said Gamblers Help Therapeutic Counsellor, Shania Manoel. “The new group means that we can offer an informal session where people can share their experiences in a supportive environment free of judgement. It offers a good first step to seeking help.”

The discussion group runs for 1.5 hours at Cafs Lydiard Street Office and registration can be made by contacting Cafs on freecall 1800 692 237.
