Tee Up for Kids & Cafs Thread Together call for players to support regional children
Tee Up for Kids Foundation is looking for keen golfers from across the region to raise funds for Cafs (Child and Family Services, Ballarat). Cafs launches History & Memory Centre
On Thursday, Cafs newly re-imagined History & Memory Centre was opened in the presence of invited guests including Former Residents of the Ballarat Orphanage and the Ballarat Children’s Home.
UFS to Support Cafs with Back to School Vouchers
Cafs is pleased to announce a new partnership with The Ballarat Foundation and UFS Dispensaries (UFS) that will support an additional 300 children with FRRR Back to School Vouchers for the next school year.
Creating Safe Spaces for LGBTIQ+ Young People
The Andrews Labor Government is ensuring that LGBTIQ+ community members feel safe, included and respected. $2.85 million has been awarded to deliver a three-year trial which will establish two physical safe spaces for LGBTIQ+ young people located in Ballarat and Geelong, along with outreach services for young people on the Surf Coast.
VRGF Research highlights impact of gambling
A research study recently published by the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation shows that gambling harm can extend across generations, with adults who were exposed during childhood to their parents’ gambling facing increased mental health problems. Cafs (Child & Family Services, Ballarat) understands how others can be negatively affected by the gambling of a loved one and offers a range of effective treatment and support services to the person who gambles, their partner and children.
Cafs launches Ararat Children's Contact Centre
Cafs (Child & Family Services Ballarat) has further strengthened the organisations commitment to servicing the Ararat region with the launch of a new Children's Contact Centre service and a newly renovated premises. Cafs Children's Contact Service (CCCS) provides a safe and nurturing environment for children to maintain contact with a parent or significant person who no longer lives with them. This can include supervised changeovers from one carer to another or a neutral, family-friendly location for supervised visits with the primary aim of helping families negotiate relationship challenges. The Ararat Contact Centre represents an extension to Cafs services in the area and builds on the existing Family Support programs, The Orange Door, Foster & Kinship Care and Financial Counselling support available.
